WADEC Core Services
I Have a Dog That I Want to Assist Me.
The process for requesting an assistance dog begins with filling out an application online or print and mail in the application to:
PO Box 683
Clinton WA, 98236
- After receiving and reviewing applications, WADEC's Lead Trainer will contact applicants to review their application and answer any questions.
- WADEC staff will set up a meeting at the applicant's home to assess their readiness to train with WADEC and to assess the dog's temperament using a Temperament Evaluation Report (TER). You can find the guidelines for WADEC assistance dog partnership here. To learn more about Temperament Evaluation Reports click here
- After the home visit, provided the applicant and the assistance dog meet the guidelines and pass the TER, WADEC staff will approve the application.
- Once WADEC clients and their dogs have been approved they will meet with WADEC staff to create a training plan based on benchmarks necessary to meet Assistance Dog International criteria for assistance dogs. Training may include basic dog care, an overview of positive training and coaching on assistance skills that the dog needs to learn to assist it's owner and pass criteria.
